Welcome! Mind if I pick you brains for something useful?
As mentioned in a previous post, I'm working on a project revolving around stereotypes of our 50, nifty United states for the 80 drawings/notapunishment assignment. Basically I'm designing cartoon characters based on these assumptions, in a Brian Dold/Loyal Army fashion


Now just imagine these cute, cuddly characters being anthropomorphisized into characters which represent blatant stereotypes for each individual state. For example, I'm pretty sure Ohio's going to end up being some sort of a hick farmer. Idaho will obviously BE a potato.
This is all cute and fun, but is there any intent? To me this project is going to speak largely on stereotypes, ones which we often forget about in our society, but everyone knows and accepts them. In these days of political correctness we try to avoid stereotyping. Johnny got all up-in-arms about the word "AZN" being used in reference to him, but how come if someone mentions the state of Texas, and the image of double-pistol shooting sherif wearing a 10-gallon hat comes to mind everyone is okay with it, they might even giggle a little. Is it okay to giggle?
Okay, I suppose you have the gist of it, here's the part where you come in... I'm lacking stereotypes for a lot more states than I had originally planned on. I'm also overlapping stereotypes with a lot of different states (did someone say Redneck?).
So here's one working list I have, any incite as to what comes to mind to you would be just lovely. Keep in mind, it's okay to stereotype here, I'm asking that you please do. It's funny, as I was researching here I found myself slightly offended by what users said about Ohio, but laughing about the others. That's the feeling I want viewers to get from this.

I'm trying to paint an overall image of what we think of each other collectively. Maybe these goofy stereotypes are what the WORLD thinks of us. Sure, they might be mimes wearing berets and carrying baguettes or wooden clog wearers, but the USA is full of even goofier characters.
I guess we shouldn't make assumptions about people after all, funny or hurtful.
